A family restaurant where the elderly are the main characters: the Sunshine project

Some time ago, Brianna Lajud, leader of Sunshine, went to a restaurant with her grandfather. What was supposed to be a quiet meal turned into an unpleasant experience, as the establishment lacked the adaptations her family member needed and they also did not receive proper treatment from the staff. Additionally, the dishes lacked quality and presentation.

From there came her idea, one of the 20 selected by a global jury to launch their crowdfunding campaign with the support of Santander X Explorer. Sunshine (Universidad de Xalapa, Mexico) aims to create a family restaurant focused on the elderly, providing a quality gastronomic experience.

"We will offer a wide variety of dishes adapted to the needs of each of our diners, always supported by nutritionists and geriatricians. Likewise, we will have fun activities for families: arts and crafts section, dance workshops, board games... Our staff will also be trained in dealing with the elderly and their companions," explains Brianna.

The goal of their campaign is to raise the necessary resources for this project to go from paper to reality. It requires facilities adapted for the elderly, such as ramps or railings, but also promotion, hiring of staff, machinery... There are many ways to collaborate! Check out the link to find out how.
