Professional training for young people in situations of social vulnerability: discover Relume’s project

Relume (Brazil) is a digital platform for professional training born with the mission of making the invisible visible. Founded by three women (Mônica Araújo, Celsiane Araújo and Viviane Amaral) Relume has been selected to receive support from Santander X Explorer and to launch a crowdfunding campaign. Our goal is to provide free professional training and scholarships to young people who live or have lived in foster homes (shelters), as well as to those in situations of social vulnerability, promoting true inclusion and employability.

The platform will offer nine training pathways: Portuguese language applied to work, English language applied to work, mathematics and financial education, culture and citizenship, vocational guidance, digital literacy, corporate behaviour, social skills, and technologies applied to mid-level functions in digital marketing and administration. After completing their training, each young person will be referred to recruitment processes in partner companies, receiving support before, during, and up to three months after being hired, ensuring the assistance needed for adaptation and retention in employment.

According to the OECD, in 2022 Brazil ranked second in the world for young people aged 18 to 24 who neither study nor work. As co-founder Viviane Amaral, mother of a young man who left a shelter at 18 facing a significant educational delay, recalls: “I witnessed first-hand the urgent need to provide preparation and opportunities for these young people who, without support, cannot enter and remain in the labour market.”
