Climate change and the environmental crisis are advancing by leaps and bounds. “In this context, we believe in the importance of rethinking our consumption habits, and as producers, we must reconsider our manufacturing methods to minimise the impact we generate on the planet.“ This is how Lucía Heredia, a member of the La Femme team, begins to describe the crowdfunding campaign they have just launched to get their idea off the ground and make the brand known.

La Femme (University of Palermo, Argentina) is one of the 20 projects selected by an international panel to receive support from Santander X Explorer for their crowdfunding campaign. But what exactly are they proposing? They explain it in this video:

The current development model is an extractivist and linear economic model, designed to create products and throw them away quickly. In the textile industry, each stage of the manufacturing process generates large amounts of waste that are harmful to the environment. This industry is the second most polluting in the world. Instead of thinking about producing more to sell more, we could start thinking about producing better, minimising the extraction of new materials and properly managing waste and offcuts to extend their useful life within the production chain,” they explain. “It is crucial and urgent to move towards a new way of manufacturing and replace the linear production system with a circular one that mimics nature, where waste does not exist. Instead, all elements serve a purpose, and are revalued and reused in different stages,” they add.

This is the vision behind La Femme, a brand whose key feature is the design of textile products made from raw materials originating from the circular economy, organic fabrics, or any other sustainable source, with the added value of having their own designs printed through screen printing with natural dyes. It is worth noting that their range includes reusable fabric products that help reduce the amount of plastic waste on the planet.

“*At La Femme, we believe that making the most of resources is possible, profitable and, above all, necessary!*’ concludes Lucía.

This is your chance to support a brand committed to environmental care, which is also linked to six of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN’s 2030 Agenda. Here you can view the campaign and, if you wish, collaborate with it.

Do you also want to launch your project? Sign up for Santander X Explorer, and if your idea is selected at the end of the programme, you’ll launch your own crowdfunding campaign with our support.
