Egalia is a non-profit project run by a close-knit and competent group, proud to have been selected by a global jury at Santander X Explorer. “Is an writing assistant for gender-fair language, designed to contribute to a fairer world,” says Martina Rosola, creator and coordinator of the group. “This is why we want it to be free to use. The idea stems from studying the impact of words on human perception and behavior and the awareness that using gender-fair language is hard, even for those who care about gender issues or have taken dedicated courses.”
Egalia provides AI-powered writing assistance: it flags unfair expressions and offers several alternatives to choose from, explaining the reason for the suggestions. This allows users to immediately have** correct texts** and, at the same time, discover what makes certain expressions unfair and learn to notice them independently. Doing so will be a piece of cake: Egalia integrates directly into the browser, correcting texts where they are written, without requiring copy-pasting them on external websites.

Egalia focuses on high social impact fields such as informal language and educational materials. But above all, the writing assistant will be co-created with its users, in partnership with Universities, civil society organizations and a start up, allowing us to tailor the software to users’ needs.
Join this project by contributing to our** crowdfunding campaign** with a donation or by promoting it: you will help us create Egalia and make it freely available to everyone! On top of that, we offer attractive rewards, such as information material on gender-fair language, text correction, and dedicated trainings. And if you are as excited about Egalia as we are, contact us to collaborate!
