The most awaited moment in each edition of Santander X Explorer has arrived… the verdict of the program global jury! The 30 projects that will receive crowdfunding training have already been chosen. What are they? What problems do they want to solve? What solutions do they propose? Let us introduce them to you:
- TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY (UNIR, Peru) A 100% online academy that would offer the most in-demand technology careers in partnership with companies seeking these profiles, with the aim of providing a job pool for students.
- AI CARDS FOR HUMANITY (University of Coimbra, Portugal) Using gamified pedagogy, this idea aims to improve discourse on AI ethics and digital justice. It employs a framework of binary, mutually exclusive forced choices. The game challenges users to decide (or not) on the use of technology in response to a given scenario.
- ALTOQUE TAXES (ESAN University, Peru) A digital platform designed to simplify tax declarations for self-employed workers and sole proprietors in Peru. An estimated 70%–80% of these workers fail to meet their tax obligations due to the process’s complexity and lack of access to affordable, reliable accounting services.
- CANCER IN NURSES’ KEY (International University of La Rioja, Spain) A support service for individuals diagnosed with cancer and their families during the first round of chemotherapy. It aims to reduce uncertainty and anxiety by ensuring they are better informed throughout the process.
- MARGARITA (University of the Pacific, Peru) This platform will allow clients to securely and efficiently store, send, receive, and manage their digital assets. Designed with a modern, user-focused interface, the app integrates advanced encryption and multifactor authentication technologies to safeguard client funds and data.
- CUIDOMI (Pontifical Catholic University of Peru) A bidirectional platform that helps families find the ideal caregiver for elderly patients requiring home assistance while providing dignified and secure job opportunities for healthcare professionals.
- EDUCAVEN (University of Cádiz, Spain) An intermediary between clients and companies offering educational activities based on experience (extracurriculars, complementary classes, camps, events, and celebrations). Its goal is to improve communication between companies, teachers, and families, promoting quality education.
- FEMTECH: TECHNOLOGY AND WOMEN (Federal University of Vales do Jequitinhonha and Mucuri, Brazil) A collaborative digital platform focused on women’s sexual health and well-being, guided by the design thinking methodology to create and develop digital products.
- HELLOW FELLOW INNOVA (University of Talca, Chile) This idea aims to enhance the quality of English teaching in public and private schools, colleges, and high schools. It is an educational platform compatible with computers and tablets, designed to develop the four key English learning skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. This will be achieved through gamification and interactive tasks.
- KIMERU (National University of Colombia, Medellín) A technological channel providing real-time information to small and medium producers to improve their bargaining power and reduce economic gaps by selling directly to end consumers.
- LEARNGUD (Peruvian University of Applied Sciences) A platform addressing the challenge of self-discovery in adolescents, who often face pressure to choose university degrees without clarity about their true passions. Many end up wasting time and money, leading to unhappiness, frustration, and poor decisions.
- LEARNING FAST (University of San Martín de Porres, Peru) A project designed to improve access to high-quality English education in low-income areas.
- LEGACY COMMUNICATION ACADEMY (Spain) An online platform where highly qualified professionals can improve their communication and leadership skills, interacting with an AI-based model.
- MBE APP (National University of Distance Education, Spain) Evidence-Based Medicine is a health application designed for patients, offering real, verified, evidence-based medical information in a simple, clear, and concise manner.
- OLA (Spain) A tool connecting SMEs, organisations, and emerging projects with individuals creating content for brands through challenges and tangible rewards. OLA encourages users to generate content that supports business digitisation, democratises the social media content industry, and amplifies campaign impact.
- SUSTAINABLE MOTORHOME PARKING (University of Vigo, Spain) A proposal to create an ecological motorhome parking site incorporating various sustainable solutions to minimise environmental impact. These include reusing shower, sink, and laundry water for green area irrigation, using blackwater to generate biogas, and installing solar panels to increase energy efficiency and power the facility.
- PET LUDO (University of Talca, Chile) An app designed for pet owners, connecting them with pet-friendly places, services, and events in Chile, fostering an active and accessible community.
- QUMPLE (University of the Pacific, Peru) A platform ensuring secure digital transactions, targeting small businesses and the general public. It aims to reduce the risk of scams in commercial transactions, help small businesses increase sales by enhancing trust, and minimise unnecessary costs and losses in distribution.
- RAY PAY (Official Estácio University, Brazil) A mobile app that uses a QR code (already available in the Pay by QR Code feature) to read purchase information at card payment terminals and delivers it via audio to visually impaired users. This enhances the user experience and resolves accessibility issues for this payment method.
- REPET (Complutense University of Madrid, Spain) This project aims to solve the problem of plastic waste accumulation and meet the growing demand for sustainable products. The innovation lies in improving the PETase enzyme through methods that overcome previous challenges of low activity and instability under certain conditions.
- ROME CONSULTANCY (University of Palermo - Centre for Development of Entrepreneurs and Exporters, Argentina) A consultancy specialising in Human Resources with a focus on senior talent. Its goal is to support companies in adapting to current demographic changes (increasing population ageing) to mitigate the impact on their economic growth.
- SCHUTZSTEIN (Pontifical Catholic University of Peru) A biodegradable device that releases piperine through a hydrogel cylinder, providing residual larvicidal activity for up to 37 days. This project aims to improve dengue control in northern Peru.
- SIRENIC EDITORIAL (University of Málaga, Spain) Audiocomics for visually impaired people. This format is significantly more cost-effective than physical comics, as it eliminates printing, storage, and distribution costs.
- ON WHEELS (Buenos Aires Institute of Technology, Argentina) A project aiming to connect society, especially young people, through a mobile app fostering a cycling community in Argentina, particularly in the capital. The app is designed as a platform where secondary schools compete to accumulate the most cycling kilometres, offering both institutional and individual rewards.
- STEM4SHE (Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, Mexico) A platform designed to empower Mexican women in STEM, offering a community and learning space. Young women can access courses, masterclasses, workshops, and talks to develop technical and leadership skills in their specialised fields.
- TOUCHMATHICS (Antonio Ruiz de Montoya University, Peru) Inclusive educational resources to facilitate mathematics teaching for visually impaired students. The kits integrate multisensory activities to promote a playful and efficient understanding of key mathematical concepts.
- TRIMTEAM ONE (National University of Córdoba, Argentina) An electric station for dry trimming of cannabis plants to produce medicinal oils. It complies with current health regulations and ensures traceability throughout the process.
- VIVAPAINT (Spain) In this country, air pollutants cause around 17,000 deaths annually, 2,400 premature births, and 10% of lung cancer cases, according to the European Environment Agency. VivaPaint is an innovative bioactive paint containing the alga Chlorella vulgaris, capable of absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen.
- W.MATE (RWTH Aachen University, Germany) An innovative platform designed to connect adults with university students to offer assistance with daily tasks.
- WOOMY PET CARE (University of the North, Colombia) An app offering essential pet care services (walks, telemedicine and in-person vet consultations, boarding, etc.) within a single ecosystem. A portion of the profits would be allocated to social causes supporting stray animal care.
Once the training is completed, 20 of these ideas will move on to the next phase, where they’ll put their knowledge into practice: they’ll launch their own crowdfunding campaign with the support of Santander X Explorer. We’ll let you know which projects make it very soon!
