Taking advantage of the circular economy of unused mobile phones to turn them into gamified educational experiences. Bringing new technologies of virtual reality and augmented reality closer to centers that provide occupational therapy services, pedagogical support, and care for elderly people who wish to enjoy these tools to improve the learning and gaming experience in their sessions. These two objectives come together in Study AR‘s proposal, one of the projects selected to receive support from Santander X Explorer in a crowdfunding campaign that has just been launched.
This project from Spain, formed by three Colombian siblings, focuses on promoting a more inclusive education through three pillars: social, educational, and environmental. It also aims to promote interest in learning among both children and elderly people. “We want to create a community around education that, hand in hand with the circular economy, generates a collaborative network effect.” This will reinforce the development of the project to deliver Study AR tools (recycled mobile phones, cardboard glasses) “to schools, clinics, communities, and centers for children and elderly people with limited access to virtual reality and augmented reality technologies,” they explain.
To do this, they first need to carry out a pilot program in one of the interested centers and continue advancing in the contents and their platform. This is what they aim to achieve with a campaign that seeks to reduce the digital divide; take a look, as you can collaborate in various ways.
